Socio – Economic Empowerment
Timret Lehiwot Ethiopia is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization established in June 2004. Re registered on October 30, 2009 as Ethiopian Residents Charity organization according to the new civil society’s legislation to accomplish its mission of support marginalized and hard to reach citizens by providing economical, environmental and psycho-social services. Based on the major organizational thematic areas are; Women Empowerment, HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Health, Environment and WASH, Timret Lehiwot Ethiopia has been addressing disadvantaged population groups such as Female Sex Workers, House maids, HIV positive and poor women in all regions of Ethiopia in 28 cities and towns. Timret Lehiwot Ethiopia is one of the organizations with a good record of women socio economic empowerment achievements and currently working with communities and partner organizations to bring positive change through following Programs and Projects: Socioeconomic Empowerment for HIV Positive Women in Addis Ababa – a project which focus on socio economic empowerment of poor and HIV positive women through vocational skill trainings, Wise Up nationwide HIV Prevention Program – a program which focuses on socio economic empowerment of Female Sex Workers through alternative livelihood creation, ZARE Hawassa Urban HIV Prevention Project – a project which focuses on socio economic empowerment of House Maids and Sew Ale WASH Project – a project which focuses on creating toilet management livelihood opportunities for disabled poor women.
